Luis Eduardo bought his first plot of land seven years ago with a subsidy from Antioquia’s provincial government. For decades, the area was a hotbed of illegal cocoa cultivation and crime, but it is now being transformed into a lush coffee-producing city.
Luis, who had no prior experience in coffee processing, asked assistance from his neighbours and enrolled in a variety of courses provided by local cooperatives. He was able to increase coffee consistency without losing yield. He is now entirely committed to the cultivation of specialty coffee and has embraced environmentally sustainable farming methods. This lot was hand-selected and washed for 20 hours before being dried on a special rooftop he constructed on his house for this purpose.
